Q: When is University National Bank merging with Great American Bank?

A: Great American Bank merged with University National Bank on December 31, 2021 and system conversion of our banking systems will take place by Spring of 2022.

Q: Who is Great American Bank?

A: Great American Bank is a locally owned community bank headquartered in Downtown Lawrence, Kansas with 5 branches in Lawrence, KS, De Soto, KS, Kansas City, MO and Lake Lotawana, MO. Great American Bank’s mission is to provide customers with quality financial services that exceed expectations while creating customer loyalty and community value. As a locally owned bank, we have the flexibility to meet customer needs as well as provide services that are reasonably priced and delivered to the customer in a personalized efficient manner.

Q: Why did both banks decide to take this action?

A: This is a significant opportunity for both University National Bank and Great American Bank to broaden and strengthen their footprint in their communities by combining two well-respected locally owned banks whose core values and cultures are very similar. By merging the banks together, all of our customers will have access to expanded products and services to meet their banking needs.

Q: Will Great American Bank remain a community bank?

A: The core principles of Great American Bank are based on community support and involvement. We intend to maintain our original principals and continue to operate as a well-respected, locally owned community bank.

Q: Will I see changes to my University National Bank accounts?

A: There will be no changes to your account(s) until the system conversion takes place in Spring of 2022. Until then, you can continue to bank as usual using your University National Bank debit card, checks and deposit slips, website and online banking. You should continue to make any loan payments as usual. We will notify you in writing well in advance about any possible changes to your account(s) and services due to the conversion. We are committed to making this a smooth transition for all customers.

Q: What branches can I do my banking at?

A: You will be able to do all of your banking at the University National Bank location, as well as at any Great American Bank Lawrence locations. For ATM withdrawals, University National Bank customers can continue to use the University National Bank ATM. You may also use any Great American Bank ATM and will be reimbursed for any surcharge fees.

Q: Will I still get my Social Security Deposits?

A: Yes! All direct deposits and auto-drafts will continue as they are processed now.
