Great American Bank-KC Branch Update:
Kansas City customers, please take the time to come by and see the improvements we have made to our location at 3901 Main. We have completed some interior remodeling, installed a new drive through system to improve our service response, and have upgraded all of our computer systems to better serve our customers. Please come by and say hello to our friendly staff and let us know what we can do to help you with all of your banking needs.
As of December 17 all deposit accounts will be converted over to Great American Bank’s system. With this we want to introduce you to our internet banking service, which many of you have been anxiously waiting for. If you would like to sign up for this service, we will need to receive an internet banking application from you. This can be accomplished by:
- Going to our Online Banking page and downloading the application form. Please fill it out and fax to the bank or drop off.
- Stop by and pick up an application and fill out while you are at the branch.
Sincerely,
L. Travis Hicks

Dear Former First Bank Account Holders:
Effective December 16, 2009 your account will be transferred over to Great American Bank’s system. The good news is your old account number will remain the same, however, the routing number will change to: 101002855.
There are some important steps to take to make sure you continue to have uninterrupted access to your account(s) and ATM/Debit card. We are asking that you discontinue the use of the old First Bank Checks and old First Bank ATM/Debit card after December 16, 2009. On December 17, 2009 you can then begin writing checks (see below) with your new Great American Bank checks and ATM/Debit Card provided free by us. We will temporarily clear your old First Bank checks through the same process, but need your help to change on this date.
NOTE: If you order your own supply of checks please make sure to use the above new routing number and same dates for implementation.
Savings Accounts:
You will continue to use the same process for deposits and withdrawals at the bank.
Checking Accounts/Now Accounts/Money Market Accounts:
If you had ordered checks sometime in the last 2 years, we will have new complimentary checks at the bank branch at 3901 Main for you to pick up by December 10. Please bring with you at least 2 forms of identification (preferably a drivers license and social security card) in order to claim. Also, please bring in your old checks and we will gladly shred them for you. If you have not ordered checks recently, please call or come by and we will make sure to get your new checks ordered.
ATM/Debit Card Holders:
Your new ATM/Debit card will also be available by December 10 for you to pick up at the bank branch at 3901 Main. Please bring with you at least 2 forms of identification (preferably a drivers license and social security card) in order to claim your card.
Additionally, you will be receiving 2 statements for month end. One for the activity on the old First Bank account through December 16, 2009 and the other for your new Great American Bank account activity after December 16, 2009.
Finally, if you would like to be set up with internet banking, please go here and print out an on-online banking form, fax back to the bank or drop off at either location. Thank you for your cooperation, understanding, and your banking business. We appreciate you as a client and look forward to getting to know you better.
Sincerely,
L. Travis Hicks

4. I already have other deposit accounts with the new bank. When combined with balances at this bank, my deposits exceed $250,000. Are all funds insured?
The accounts transferred to GREAT AMERICAN BANK, DESOTO, KANSAS will be separately insured for at least six months after the merger. This grace period gives a depositor the opportunity to restructure the accounts, if necessary.
CDs from the failed bank are separately insured until the earliest maturity date after the end of the six-month grace period.
CDs that mature during the six-month period and are renewed for the same term and in the same dollar amount (either with or without accrued interest) continue to be separately insured until the first maturity date after the six-month period.
If a CD matures during the six-month grace period and is renewed on any other basis, it would be separately insured only until the end of the six-month grace period.

12. Why do all deposits, insured or not, pass in some transactions but not in others?
The FDIC is required by law to employ the least-cost resolution measure for each failed financial institution. The most frequent result is for the FDIC to transfer only the insured deposits in a merger transaction. The FDIC has been able to transfer all deposits in about 25% of the failures over the past 15 years.
