| About Great American Bank Great American Bank was originally established as Clayco State Bank on May 25th, 1973. William J Duensing Sr. was one of the original owners and he still serves as a Board Member and Director today. In 1980 when Bob Lutz joined the bank, the bank leased the adjacent Doctor's office space to double the size of the bank facility. After celebrating its 25th year anniversary in 1998 Great American Bank continued to grow, building a new bank at the front of the Claycomo Plaza shopping center. Great American Bank received the prestigious Clay County Cornerstone award for its new 5,000 square foot building, illustrating the banks commitment to quality in every endeavor. Through the years, the bank continued to grow with the local community of Claycomo, Pleasant Valley and the surrounding areas. Expansion plans through the acquisition of a small community bank in Johnson County Kansas and planned addition of two new branches over the next year led the bank to change its name in September 2005 to Great American Bank. At $150,000,000 in assets by the end of the summer of 2005, Great American Bank has become a strong community partner, growing from just over $35,000,000 in assets at the beginning of 2001.
